“Sheer Beauty” at the Met Gala 2015

"Sheer Genius" at the Met Gala 2015

The Met Gala 2015 was held this week in New York. An event where fashion and art unite as one. This year’s theme was China: Through the looking glass. Some floored us with their immaculate style while others left nothing to the imagination. It is safe to say that this year’s trend is SHEER! SHEER! SHEER!

Beyonce went all out with this trend walking the red carpet in a sheer custom Givenchy gown, featuring a silk tulle netting foundation with strategically placed jeweled crystals hand sewn throughout the gown. Becoming the centre of attention that she knew she would be, looking completely fearless. People love her for the diva that she is, and for her fans she is nothing short of God. Then she shows up almost naked and yet still managed to prove she has class. If anyone was going to pull off the sheer look, it would be her!

We’re wondering if Kanye West told off his wife Kim Kardashian West, “Even if you wear a strategically beaded see-through Roberto Cavalli gown, you can never be Beyonce!” Considering he’s her biggest fan! We can imagine him doing that, since Kim’s white number was eerily similar to Beyonce’s 2012 Met Gala gown. Regardless though Kim made it clear that it was her time to shine and since it is her first time wearing the Italian brand, we think she’s done a fabulous job. Designed to flatter her hourglass figure with its form-fitting design and sheer sections in all the right places.

The Bronx beauty Jennifer Lopez showed off her famous booty in a ruby coloured Versace gown that had a large sheer section on the side, exposing her naked hip. She’s no stranger to risqué clothing. Nobody’s going to forget her green tropical-printed Versace dress with a neckline that went below her navel. She’s got a song dedicated to her booty so why not have it on show. She definitely did not disappoint looking like a fire breathing dragon with her dramatic makeup and sleek hair. Ruby heels and a matching clutch completed the head turning controversial outfit.

What do you think of the sheer trend? Is being 90% naked at such events hot? Or have you seen enough skin for a lifetime?
